Tenth of Muharram: Deputy Commissioner Anantnag participates in the Proceedings.
Anantnag July 17: The Deputy Commissioner Anantnag and Senior Superintendent of Police Anantnag today participated in the tenth of Muharram proceedings at Sofipora Wallarhama in Anantnag.
Today’s Muharram proceedings were attended by a large number of mourners and took the form of a procession. The mourners, wearing black attire which symbolises mourning and sacrifice, presented religious eulogies. The procession eventually concluded at the Imambara at Sofipora.
Notably, the tenth of Muharram also called as Youm e Ashura is marked to commemorate the sacrifice of Imam Hussayn and his family and symbolises the struggle against untruth and evil.
